There are numerous federal laws and regulations that govern the provision of certain services and the export of controlled items (e.g. material samples, equipment, software/source code and prototypes) as well as information. Normal university activities often fall into these categories and can be subject to export controls. The Office of Research Security Export Controls Program is responsible for providing support for University activities subject to Federal export control and sanction regulations.
